Survivor 51 Episode 4, "That's the Magic of Survivor," airs Wednesday, October 14 at 8 PM ET/PT on CBS and streams on Paramount+. The preview shows red buffs, which means a third tribe and the season's first swap, three episodes after the premiere split the cast into Savu and Toka. For fantasy players, the one decision with a deadline is this week's pick'em: it closes the moment the episode airs.

Where Episode 3 left the board

Episode 3 cost the game two players and broke the tribe sizes. Rob quit on Day 6 after medical found nothing to pull him for, and handed his idol to Carter on the way out. Then a visit twist sent Carter to Toka, and he missed the boat back. Savu went into the challenge with seven against Toka's eleven, won on the puzzle anyway, and Toka voted out Patt 6–5. Our Episode 3 recap has the full vote.

What the preview shows

CBS hasn't released a logline for Episode 4 yet. The preview itself shows red buffs. With two tribes on the beach, a third colour can only mean one thing: the season's first swap, into three tribes. CarterMatt, Inside Survivor and Pop Heist all read it the same way.

The preview also puts Kilby alongside Eric, and Ori alongside Jelly. Previews are cut to tease, so treat those as pairings to watch, not results. Jelly and Ori bonded over lasagna on the shared beach before the tribes split them. If the swap puts them together, that is the first real test of it.

Who is vulnerable

Kilby is the name to watch. He took five votes at Tribal 3 and survived only because Lewis and Carter swung the other way. Devin spent his Savu visit warning that whole tribe about him, so a swap could put him on a beach where people have already heard his name.

Eric is next. He took four votes in Episode 2, and his closest connection on Savu, fellow Rhode Islander Rob, is gone. Savu has not lost a challenge since Episode 2, but a swap resets that.

The power holders carry targets too. Carter is holding Rob's idol, Devin found an Extra Vote on Savu's beach, and Maggie took Brady's Extra Vote and then voted against his side. In a swap, a player with something in their bag is either the safest person on the new tribe or the first one the new tribe works around.

How Episode 3 scored

Rob's quit cost every tribe that drafted him 10 points (−8 for the quit, −2 for the medical visit), and a Sole Survivor crown never softens a loss. Patt's blindside cost −5. The house rules have every value, and the fantasy points leaderboard has the full Week 3 totals.

Your one decision: the pick'em

There are no roster or Sole Survivor moves left to make before Episode 4, but there is one deadline: the Episode 4 pick'em closes when the episode airs. It offers every castaway still in the game, and a correct pick keeps your streak alive on the season leaderboard. Make it on the predictions page.

Three questions before you pick:

  1. Who has no numbers on any likely new tribe? After a swap, the first vote usually goes to whoever arrives alone.
  2. Who is known to be holding something? An idol or Extra Vote changes the math, and the holder knows it.
  3. Who has already taken votes? Kilby (five) and Eric (four) have both been written down before.
