Privacy Policy
Survivor Tribes is a free, fan-made fantasy league companion, run by one person. This page explains what the site collects, what it deliberately doesn’t, and who else sees your data along the way. It’s written to be read, not to be survived.
This is an independent fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to CBS, Paramount, SEG, or anyone who makes Survivor.
What we collect if you sign in
Signing in with Google is the only way to create an account. There is no password and no email-link option.
- From Google: your email address, display name, and profile picture
- League content you create: league and tribe names, abbreviations, colours and icons, your first name, draft picks, trades, and anything you post on your league’s trash talk board (visible only to that league’s members)
- If you post on Campfire: the Campfire name you choose and your posts, both public. Your Google name is never shown there. Reports you file are seen only by admins.
- Your Solo Tribe picks, and the display name and avatar you choose for it
- Scoring disputes you file, including the explanation you write
- Whether you’ve bought a League Pass, and when
What we collect if you don’t
Most of the site works without an account — but some of it still records something, and you should know which parts.
- Season reminder signups: your email address
- Prediction polls, trivia, and the first-impressions cast ranker: your answers, tied to a voter fingerprint — a one-way hash of some browser settings plus a random id kept in your browser. It exists to stop one person voting two hundred times. It isn’t linked to your name, and it can’t be reversed into one.
- The contact form: your name, email, subject and message, plus a one-way hash of your IP address used only to rate-limit spam
- Analytics, described below
What we don’t collect
- Your IP address is never stored. The contact form hashes it and discards the original; nothing else looks at it at all.
- Card numbers never touch this site. See Payments below.
- We don’t sell your data, share it with advertisers, or run ad targeting
- We don’t store your browser’s user agent string
Analytics
Two things measure traffic here:
- Google Analytics 4 — page views and feature usage. It sets its own cookies. Ad storage is switched off, and your user id is never sent to Google.
- A first-party log in our own database — the event name, the page path, the site that referred you, any
utm_tags on the link you arrived from, a random session id that rotates after 30 minutes of inactivity, and your user id if you’re signed in. It exists so that traffic from people running ad blockers still shows up in the numbers.
One honest caveat: some analytics events carry a label, and for league events that label is currently the league name you typed. So a league name can end up in the analytics record. We’d rather it didn’t, and intend to change it — until then, pick a league name you don’t mind appearing there.
What’s stored on your device
- Your signed-in session, so you don’t have to sign in every visit
- The analytics session id and the random voter id described above
- Small preferences: which league you last viewed, which polls you’ve voted in or dismissed, your trivia streak, and which banners you’ve closed
- Cookies: one for whether the sidebar is open, plus Google Analytics’ own cookies
Clearing your browser’s storage for this site clears all of it.
Payments
League Pass is a one-time $7 charge, handled entirely by Stripe on Stripe’s own checkout page. Your card details go to Stripe and never to us — this site has no card fields and holds no card data. All we store is whether you paid, when, and Stripe’s checkout session id. Stripe has its own privacy policy.
We send a welcome note when you build a Solo Tribe, a receipt when you buy a League Pass, a draft recap, a premiere reminder, and league invites when a commissioner sends you one. Mail goes out through Resend from noreply@survivortribes.com. Every non-essential email carries an unsubscribe link and supports one-click unsubscribe. Receipts and league invites are transactional — those still arrive even if you’ve unsubscribed from everything else.
Other services in the mix
Loading a page here can involve Supabase (database, sign-in, file storage), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (checkout), Google (sign-in, Analytics, and web fonts), Resend (email), YouTube (embedded clips), and Instagram, TikTok or X (embedded posts, on the pages that show them). Each has its own privacy policy, and each sees your request when its content loads.
Your data
Want a copy of what’s here, or want it gone? Ask through the contact form and it will be handled.
Being straight with you: this is a manual process, not a self-service button — one person with database access, not a data-rights portal. Deleting your account removes your profile and your Solo Tribe. League history that other managers drafted and traded against may be anonymised rather than erased, so their season still makes sense.
Children
This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has signed up, tell us and it will be removed.
Changes
This page gets updated when the site does. The date below is the last time that happened.
