The best place to start watching CBS's Survivor is Survivor 51, airing now on Wednesday nights: 21 new players, nobody with a history on the show, and you get to watch it with everyone else. After that, go back to a handful of classic seasons with all-new casts, such as Borneo, Pearl Islands, Cagayan and David vs. Goliath. Save the all-returnee seasons for later, because they are built on players and stories from seasons you have not seen yet.

Start here: Survivor 51

The easiest way into Survivor is the season airing right now. Survivor 51 premiered on September 23 with 21 first-time players, none of whom has been on the show before. You do not need to know anyone's history, because nobody has one.

Survivor: Borneo (Season 1)

The one that started everything. Sixteen strangers, no rulebook, and nobody sure what winning even looks like. It is slower than modern Survivor, and that is the point: you get to watch the game being invented.

Survivor: Pearl Islands (Season 7)

A pirate theme, a cast full of characters, and a twist that brought already-eliminated players back into the game. It is one of the most entertaining seasons from the show's early years.

Survivor: Cagayan (Season 28)

Three tribes sorted into Brains, Brawn and Beauty. Fast, loud and strategic, and a good example of how big moves change the game.

Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X (Season 33)

Tribes split by generation, a cast of players who wanted to make moves, and the first season filmed in the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji, where the show has stayed ever since, including Survivor 51.
