Who Should Be Your Sole Survivor?
Every tribe gets one crown. Your Sole Survivor scores double on every point they gain, and their losses only count once. It is the biggest single decision you make all season, and it happens by default: the crown starts on your first draft pick and stays there unless you move it.
The deadline
You can move your crown as often as you like until Episode 2 airs on Wednesday, September 30 at 8/7c. After that it is fixed for the season. The same deadline applies to Solo Tribe.
Drafted Aaliyah Puglia first? The premiere's first boot is still wearing your crown, so your Sole Survivor is already gone. Move it before Wednesday or that slot scores nothing all season.

Why upside beats safety
Doubling only the gains changes the math. A castaway who takes a few votes but might also win four immunity necklaces is a better crown than a safe floater who never wins anything, because the votes cost you once and the necklaces pay twice. Some commissioners set their league to pay the doubled half when the castaway's run ends rather than weekly. That changes when the points land, not how many.
What the last five winners had in common
Every season since 41 has run 26 days instead of 39. Here is how the five most recent winners got to the end.

- All five decided their own seat at the final four. Three won the last immunity challenge. The other two won fire.
- All five won at least two individual immunities, and Rachel and Savannah each won four, tying the record for a woman in one season. Individual immunity only starts at the merge, so every one of those wins came in the stretch where a single missed necklace ends a game.
- It is a recent pattern, not a law. All-time, 12 Sole Survivor titles went to someone who never won individual immunity that season: 11 different people, with Sandra doing it twice. Maryanne, the Season 42 winner, is the most recent. A zero-necklace winner still pays you the win and the jury votes, just nothing along the way.
- So the shape is a social player who can win when it counts. Someone the tribe wants to keep around, who can also pull out a necklace late when the tribe stops protecting them.
What a winning run is worth
Here is each winner's endgame at our point values, counting only individual immunity, idols, fire-making, making the merge, jury votes and the win itself. Everything else (tribe challenges, confessionals, votes against) is left out, so treat these as floors.

That is roughly 90 to 120 points from one slot, before counting a single tribe win. No other decision in your tribe moves the standings that much. See the full scoring sheet.
Three tests for your roster
You can only crown someone you drafted, so run your own castaways through these. The evidence is from Episode 1 only; one episode is a small sample, and Savu hasn't been to Tribal Council yet, so its ten players are still untested.
Were they on the right side of the first vote?
Toka's first vote went 6–2. Devin Way and Angelica "Jelly" Loblack cast the two votes against the majority. Being out of step in week one is survivable, but it puts your name on a list early. Thien An Nguyen, Brady Booker, Danny "Kilby" Kilby, Maggie Nestor, Mike Pinsky and Patt Cannaday voted with the majority and took no votes.
Can they win a necklace when it counts?
Nobody has won individual immunity yet, so you're reading tribe challenges for clues. Watch who the tribe trusts with the puzzle or the final leg. Those are the players who get handed the moments that matter, and after the merge that means necklaces worth +5, doubled.
Do they have insurance?
Rob Antonson found an idol at Savu camp on day one with no conditions attached. It is playable at any Tribal Council until five are left. A successful play is worth +3 (doubled on your crown), and it buys a week of survival that keeps everything else scoring.

- Jenna Doore: took both minority votes and played a Shot in the Dark that came up empty. Survived anyway.
- Devin Way and Angelica "Jelly" Loblack: the only two votes against the majority.
- Lewis Kelly: spent the first thirty hours alone on Exile while everyone else was making friends.
