Scoring the season
This kit stops at the draft on purpose. The scoring sheet is its own printable page, with a column per person, every scoring category and its point value, and a total row at the bottom. Keeping one sheet rather than two means the point values here can never drift from the ones the site actually scores with.
Printable scoring sheetHow to run a Survivor fantasy league
How do you run a Survivor fantasy league?
Before the premiere, each manager drafts a tribe of castaways, usually four to six each, in a snake draft so pick order reverses every round. Each week you award points for what those castaways actually do on the episode, add them to each manager's running total, and the highest total at the finale wins.
What is a snake draft, and why use one?
In a snake draft the pick order reverses every round: if you pick first in round one, you pick last in round two. It exists to cancel out the advantage of an early first pick, so nobody wins the league at the draft. The board in this kit is already laid out that way, with arrows showing the direction of each round.
How many castaways should each manager draft?
It depends on how many of you there are. With 21 castaways, six managers drafting five each uses 30 of them, which is more than the cast holds — so either drop to four rounds or add a bench. A league only has a bench if it leaves castaways undrafted, and the counter above this kit's draft board tells you which case you are in.
Do you need a spreadsheet for a Survivor fantasy league?
No. A draft board, a roster sheet per manager and an agreed scoring list are enough, which is exactly what this kit prints. A spreadsheet only starts paying for itself once you are tired of adding the weekly totals by hand.
When should you hold the draft?
Before the premiere, while nobody has seen a frame. Drafting after episode one turns the draft into a reaction to the first boot rather than a read on the cast, which is most of the fun. Survivor 51 premieres Sept 23.
Rather not do the maths?
Paper is a fine way to run a league and this kit is free forever. If you would rather the scoring happened by itself, the site runs the same game with a live snake draft board, a pick clock, and totals that update the night each episode airs.
