Grant Mattos
Rob Mariano's right-hand man, so loyal and so strong that Rob decided he could never sit next to him at the end.
Known for
The former NFL player was Ometepe's challenge engine in Redemption Island and a founding member of the six-person majority built around Rob Mariano. The two became genuine confidants, consulting each other on strategy throughout. Zapatera came gunning for Grant the moment the tribes merged, and Mike Chiesl slipped Matt Elrod a note offering final three if he flipped. Matt stayed put, Grant and Rob fed him a decoy plan, and Grant squeaked by 6-5.
From there Ometepe picked off Zapatera one by one. Steve Wright warned Grant about what happens to Rob's friends once they are no longer useful, and Grant shrugged it off. He helped cut Andrea Boehlke as a jury threat and looked comfortable at five, until Ashley Underwood won immunity and Rob flipped the plan onto Grant himself. His last shot at the Redemption Island duel came up short. On the jury he asked Rob why, heard that Rob believed Grant would have beaten him, and still voted for Rob.
